What are the elements of a beautiful jazz solo? Studying Joe Pass’s solo on Relaxin’ at the Camarillo from the album Joy Spring provides great insight. This research presents a transcription of Pass’s solo and illustrates the use of five techniques which contribute in making this a particularly compelling statement.
